CAR-MAKERS SPONSOR FOOTBALL CLUBS: A 3.5 BILLION FANS SPORT
Today´s article is specially dedicated to all those who love football. Among all sports, soccer undoubtedly wins the hearts of most fans, with over 3.5 billion football fans in the world – this is half of the world population! Having said that, let me tell you guys that you are not the only fans, since car-makers sponsor football clubs!
Do you know which are the companies within the automotive sector that sponsor or own football clubs? Since football is really media oriented with millions of television viewers on a weekly basis, seemingly that these big companies would like to use this marketing channel to sponsor their products.
Let us have a look into the different sponsorship between the car-makers and the soccer teams!
NISSAN & YOKOHAMA F.MARINOS, MACHESTER CITY, NEW YORK CITY, MELBOURNE CITY
Nissan became the first global partner of the football network, an organization that already includes the Yokohama F. Marinos, Barclays Premier League Champions, Manchester City FC, Manchester City Women´s FC, New York City FC and Melbourne City FC.
This partnership is one more example of Nissan´s efforts in global sports, including already the brand´s proud sponsorship of the UEFA Champions League, Rio 2016 Olympic Games, Olympic Team Great Britain and Mexico, Africa Cup of Nations, NCAA Football, Heisman Trophy, Canadian Football
RENAULT-FORMULA 1 & LALIGA
The Renault Formula 1 team has announced a partnership with Spain’s top football division LaLiga. As a result of the arrangement, the La Liga logo will be present on Renault’s recently unveiled F1 2018 challenger, the RS18. Renault has promised the partnership will result in “exciting activities”.
It will also feature on the overalls of the team’s two race drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz, the latter a supporter of La Liga’s reigning champion team Real Madrid.
According to Antoine Magnan, Renault´s head of partnerships said “We are very happy to announce this exciting and unique partnership with LaLiga, one of the world’s best football divisions.
This sponsorship between the French carmaker and the English football club dates back from 2008-2014, getting extended for a few years more.
Introduced a special version of the C4 Cactus -The Arsenal edition – for the fans of this great English Club. The production will be limited to just 11 vehicles and besides its authentic exterior colors, it will get the GOALIE system for entertainment.

CHEVROLET & MANCHESTER UNITED
Chevrolet – General Motors – has signed in August 2017 a new seven-year sponsorship agreement with a famous club of the Premier League, Manchester United. The relationship of these two icons started back in 2014-2015 season.
This is a 61 million € contract a year, meaning that Manchester United will worth a total capital injection of 427 million € under the marketing campaign “What do you play for”.
The contract Chevrolet – Manchester United does include the sponsorship of the players’ seats, as well as the facade of the stadium, the Old Trafford. In addition to other specific marketing campaigns to introduce publicly the new models of the American car-maker.
FIAT & JUVENTUS
FIAT is the owner of the Juventus of Turin (Italy). The Juventus is quoting in the Italian Stock Exchange in Milan, so would you like become the next owner of the Juventus?
The family Agnelli is the main owner – 30% of the Fiat Group (brands like Ferrari, Maserati, Abarth, etc), as well as controls the Chrysler group, becoming also the owners of the Jeep brand.
Since 2012, FIAT has become the main sponsorship of Juventus through its brand Jeep. A new six-year contract has been signed until 2021, starting out from the 2015-2016 season. Fiat will fuel with 17 million € per season plus variable bonuses depending on the results in competitions both national and international.

DACIA & UDINESE CALCIO
The car manufacturer Dacia – Renault group and the Udinese Calcio have been in partnership since the season 2009. News reveals that Dacia will remain as a front-of-shirt sponsor of the football club until 2020.
The deal also sells the naming rights to the car company – from Stadio Friuli into Dacia Arena Friuli – with up to 25,000-seaters.
YOKOHAMA TIRES & CHELSEA
Yokohama tires – Chelsea has been the second biggest sponsorship deal in the football sport, after the one of Chevrolet – Manchester United.
According to the Chelsea Chairman Bruce Buck, “Chelsea and Yokohama are a perfect fit. Both are global organizations with a focus on performance and innovation, as well as having huge ambition and an unwavering culture of success”.
Due to such perfect fit, Yokohama tires will contribute with 50 million € for five years, starting out from the 2015/2016 season.
