In today´s article, I am bringing you today a really interesting and funny video which I saw on Japanese TV recently. Fortunately, I could find it on Youtube with English subtitles to share it with all of you.

This TV ad is sponsored by the well-known Japanese car-maker Daihatsu and its little great model Wake, segment “kei car” – this is, the smallest category of passenger cars – with sliding doors. In case you did not know it, let me tell you that the Japanese brand Daihatsu belongs to the great Toyota.

It is a 5 minutes and a half video which unites several ads of the Daihatsu Wake, telling a story on the Japanese way. Our dear main character, the funny and nice Japanese man Anchan, looks like MacGyver and becomes Mr.Inventor, able to transform his old car into different things depending on his and her couple´s plans on Sunday (bike, picnic, a dog cage, etc.). Anchan represents the image of an adventurous Japanese man and lover of Nature and healthy life, apart from stubborn and able to do everything in order to beat his eternal rival, the Daihatsu Wake.

From my personal point of view, this is a fantastic video that Daihatsu successfully tests and evinces the great versatility of its small great Wake. The add is exclusively focused on showing the advantages of having a Wake due to the numerous applications, as well as its interior dimensions, despite being a vehicle included within the kei car segment. At no point is there any discussion about technical specs, output, price, performance, consumption, etc. Everything is about versatility.

In order to get to know better Anchan´s archenemy, the technical specs of the Daihatsu Wake are shown as below:

Would you like to see some of his funny and crazy ideas to adapt his car into “everything you can imagine” and finally defeat the Daihatsu Wake? Watch the video and enjoy it!
